Call Log Template for Wholesalers (Free Google Sheets & Excel)
A call log template is a single sheet that records every seller call you make: who you reached, what they told you, what happened, and when you said you would call back. This one is built for wholesalers running 50 to 200 dials a week, where the usual failure is not a missing note but a seller who said "call me Friday" and never heard back.
A call log is not the same thing as call notes. Notes capture one conversation; the log captures the sequence, so you can see who is warm, who went cold, and who is due today. Keep the detail in a seller call notes template and the row here short enough to scan; how to take notes during a cold call covers what belongs in those notes.
The call log template
Paste this into Google Sheets or Excel. The first line is the header; the second shows each field's format.

How to use it
- Fill one row immediately after every dial, including voicemails. A log with only the good calls hides the follow-up you missed.
- Use plain outcomes: reached, voicemail, callback, appointment, not interested, wrong number. Do not invent pipeline stages you will not maintain.
- Record the number exactly as they said it, plus a second number if offered. Bad contact data loses more deals than bad scripts.
- Write the next step as an action with a date: "send offer range by Tuesday," not "follow up."
- Sort by follow-up date before your first dial block. Every row due today or earlier gets called before any new lead.
- Keep Notes to one or two facts the next call needs: the repair, the relative who decides, the tenant behind on rent.
- Move closed rows to a separate tab monthly; a log you never clean becomes a list you never open.
The manual step is copying each field from your notes into the row. DealWrap does that part from your call recording and hands you a finished row to paste into the sheet or your CRM.
Worked example
Denise Carter owns a free-and-clear rental in Memphis and called back after a direct mail piece. The first row looks like this:
| Date | Seller | Outcome | Motivation | Asking price | Timeline | Follow-up | Next step |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-10-17 | Denise Carter | Callback | Moving to assisted living; wants a clean sale | $185,000 | 60 days | 2026-10-20 | Send cash offer range |
On the callback, she says the roof is twelve years old and she will not do repairs. You add that to Notes, change the outcome to Appointment, and set the next step to "walk the property Saturday, 11:00." The asking price stays at $185,000 because that is what she said. Two weeks later, the log shows the walk happened, the offer went out on the 21st, and the follow-up is due on the 24th. That is the point of the sheet: it answers "what did I promise, and when?" without relying on memory.
If you want the note-taking step handled too, install DealWrap from the Chrome Web Store. The free plan includes 30 minutes a month and asks for no card. Keep the log either way; the extension fills it, it does not replace reviewing it.
FAQ
What is a call log?
A call log is a running record of the calls you make and receive, one row per conversation: date, contact, phone number, outcome, and the next step. For a wholesaler it is the sheet that proves a lead was called, what the seller said, and when you promised to follow up.
How do you make a call log in Excel?
Paste the CSV template on this page into cell A1, then use Data > Text to Columns if Excel puts the whole line in one cell. Freeze the header row, format the date and follow-up columns as dates, and add a filter so you can sort by follow-up date each morning. Google Sheets imports the same file with File > Import.
Is there a tool that writes these notes for you?
Yes, if the call is recorded. DealWrap reads the recording and fills the same fields this log asks for — motivation, price, timeline, objections, next step — plus a follow-up message, so you paste a finished row into your sheet or CRM. It runs in Chrome on the calls you already make, the free plan covers 30 minutes a month with no card, and it does not listen live or replace your judgment.
Once the row is written, the next conversation usually starts with a text or email. The follow-up message templates give you the wording; the phone call notes template gives you the page to fill in mid-call.
